History - Craft Brewery | Roof of Africa

History

Roof of Africa Hotel was established in 1998 and is growing ever since. In 2018 we open our Craft Brewery. The Brewery started with producing finest quality beer for our inhouse guests. Since then, we have been expanding it, adding extra tanks, bottling and barrels to sell at events and other restaurants. In 2019 we win our first gold medal in the African Beer Cup putting Namibia on top of the list of Craft beer producer of Africa. In 2021 we got another 3 medals for our different beer.

Roof of Africa's Craft Brewery has gained recognition as one of Namibia’s top privately-owned breweries. It brews high-quality beer using traditional German brewing techniques, adhering to the Reinheitsgebot purity law, with key ingredients such as malt and hops imported from Germany. The brewery uses mineral water from the Naukluft Mountains, which enhances the natural flavor of its beers.

The brewery is known for producing four distinct beers: a draught, unfiltered draught, pilsner, and dark lager. Unlike other breweries, Roof of Africa’s beers are not bottled for mass distribution; instead, they are served fresh from the tank at the brewery’s bars, offering visitors a unique, on-site experience. The brewery has also earned accolades at the prestigious African Beer Cup, winning gold for its Roof Draught and bronze for its Roof Pilsner.
